Scrapbooking Graduation Memories
Graduation is a very good theme for use in a scrapbook. This kind of scrapbook could be started years before the graduation or just a few months ahead of the event. A comprehensive book could be made if you collected material for it over several years. You could do this on your own, or you could enlist the help of your son or daughter and involve them in the creative process. Your scrapbook could be created as a traditional scrapbook or you could make a digital scrapbook.
Those memories are the kind you want to keep forever. A scrapbook with many rememberances about the good times and the tough times will become something treasured.
There are some pre-designed scrapbook papers with a graduation theme. Print out pictures, clip art or illustrations and trim them to make your own scrapbook embellishments. Prevent damage or deterioration and discoloration of the photos and other memorabilia in your scrapbook by using archival safe paper and glue.
The most personal things you can add make the album more interesting such as: iinformation about your child’s participation in clubs and hobbies or news articles about your child – and even a personal note about something you remember about them. Copies of report cards or any special awards are other possibilities to use. Notes from friends, family or teachers can be used. Think about including special notes of personal recollections or of the times your son or daughter made you the proudest. Many of these items can be scanned to put into a digital scrapbook.
Other ideas: Include each high school or middle school yearly photo on separate pages. School dances or prom mementos. Develop the theme further with the use of graduation stickers. Dedicate a page for each year, such as: freshman, sophomore, junior and senior. For accents and interest on the page layouts, use die cuts. You can find die cuts or paper shapes with pictures and themes that illustrate hobbies, sports, or music, and use them as scrapbook embellishments. These can be bought at art, craft and scrapbook supply stores.)
Save pages for photos of all the graduation events, parties and the ceremony. Save space for graduation announcements or invitations to the event. Add journaling (information you add by hand) with pens, or in digital scrapbooks you can use special fonts.
Pick out a nice binder or scrapbook album to keep the graduation scrapbook pages in. Be sure the album you plan to use will have room for all of your school memorabilia including, awards, copies of report cards or school photos.
After graduation, when the diploma arrives, you might include a copy of it in the album. Planning and saving items for your scrapbook done over a period of time, but these memories are worth the time and trouble. What a great gift this will make, and it’s a way to make the best high school, middle school or college memories last. These are the memories of your child’s most important years you’ll want to remember and share.
