Does anyone make a plain (no vented rib) 18.5″ – 20″ barrel with bead sights for a 20 gauge Mossberg 500?
I recently bought a used Mossberg 500 20 gauge with a 26″ barrel. The price was right so I figured I’d pick it up for a home defense shotgun for a friend of mine, the only problem being the 26″ barrel. I have been looking for hours trying to find someone… anyone who makes a plain barrel with a bead sight in either an 18.5″ or 20″ length, and have had no luck whatsoever. I’m debating cutting it, but have heard that once you cut a barrel on any gun, it needs “recrowned,” and I don’t know how to do that. If anyone could help me out I would sure appreciate it!! Thanks.
for home defense re-crowning is not needed. the crown is important for accuracy during target shooting, clays, or hunting, unless your friend have 25 yard long hallways in his house, the loss of accuracy without a new crown is marginal and not that important.
