How can I put a photo of a face into photoshop and turn it into 3 basic colors? (black, white, grey?)?
I’ve seen this done before with just black and red, or black, white and red, etc. The technique might be called “vectoring”?
I’d suggest trying “Posterization.” Filter > Adjustments > Posterize. Change the levels to something like 3 or 4 and see if you like it. Just keep trying different values for level until you get what you want.
If you want only grey tones, use [CTRL]+[SHIFT]+[U] before you apply the posterization filter to convert to a black and white image.
