how do you poer ceramic pottery molds?

Pour it in slowly and gently tap the mold on the table to release air bubbles from the slip. Let it sit 20 minutes or so and then pour out the remaining slip from the mold. You should let the mold set at least 5 hours before you try to open it so the slip can begin to dry and take the form. I have opened molds that have bone dry clay-you just need to be very careful as it is more fragile and no longer flexible. The biggest problem with it becoming too dry is that it is much more difficult to scrape the seams left by the mold-leather hard is preferable, so depending on the size of the mold you can open it between 3-8 hours from the time you pour. Humidity also plays a large role, so you may have to experiment the first few times to see what works best for your set up.
