Can a front-facing placenta cushion movements as well as prevent the heart beat from being detected?
I am 18 weeks pregnant with my second. With my first, I felt every little movement from 15 weeks. I have yet to feel anything.
When I go for my prenatal appointments, the doctor is never able to pick up a fetal heartbeat. With my first, they were always able to find a heartbeat, no problem, from 12 weeks. Now, they always pull out an ultrasound machine to see that everything is okay. The baby is definitely fine, moving around like crazy and the doctor is always able to see the heart beating and can count how many beats per minute.
The doctors never mentioned this, but it just occurred to me: could me not feeling the movements AND the fact that the heart beat is never picked up be caused from a front-facing placenta? I go for my actual 20 week ultrasound where they check everything thoroughly on Jan. 13th, so I’m guessing they’ll be able to tell for sure then.
If you have an anterior placenta then yes it would make it difficult to feel all movements and to pick up the fetal heart beat
