Can you knit a round using 4 regular needles or do you have to use double pointed?
I’m knitting something for my friend and it requires me knitting in a round, only problem is I don’t have double pointed needles nor do I have circular needles. So I’m wondering if I can use four of the same sized needles.
On my needles I can pop off the ends (the glue wore down or something), not sure about the needles I’ve asked to borrow from a friend though.
The only way you could do it would be very tedious and you would still have to have at least four needles. You would have to slip every stitch across to another needle to be able to knit it.
Say your pattern required 60 stitches. You would knit 20 stitches onto each of three needles, then slip/slide the first 20 stitches onto another needle so that you could start knitting from the correct end. Once you had knitted those 20 stitches, you would then have to slip/slide the 20 stitches from the second set of 20 and knit them, then keep repeating the process.
The only other way I can think of doing it would be if you search youtube as there is a video in there showing you how to ‘reverse knit’ and that may help or you could maybe knit right handed across, wrap the last stitch and then do left handed or reverse knit back across.
It would be far easier to get a set of double pointed or a circular needle.
