What should I use to dye special types of fabric?
I need to dye one cup of a white bra black and the other cup red, and do the same thing to a pair of white boyshort underwear. Should I try to use fabric dyes to do this, or should I get fabric paint and do it by hand. If I use paint, should I do spray fabric paint or brush-on fabric paint? Does it depend on the material the underwear are made of?

Depends on what the fabric is. For instance, cotton, linen, rayon and other cellulosic fabrics dye well with one class of dyes. Nylon, wool and silk dye well with another. Used to be there was no dye that would dye polyester at home, but now there are four colors of I-dye that will dye polyester. See http://www.dharmatrading.com for more information on fabric dyes and paints. Some of the thin-bodied paints can be used like this, but many will make the fabric stiff.
Speaking as someone who sews, I’d be much more likely to just sew these items myself of pre-dyed fabric, or purchase two bras in black and red, cut them at the bridge (center front) and sew a half-black, half-red bra that way. Ditto with the underwear.
