The Fender Electric Bass – Bass With A Place In Music History
The now popular Fender brand brought the public the inaugural mass-produced bass guitar in the 50′s. Quickly after its release, the Fender Bass Guitar found a place with some of the most popular musicians of the day like William ‘Monk’ Montgomery, Lionel Hampton and Roy Johnson, who had unique musical visions and skilled players in their bands, taking the Fender electric bass and making it a respectable, important instrument in the musical landscape. Within a moment of the Precision Bass being released by Fender, another electric bass guitar was brought forward by Gibson. This new bass guitar resembled more of a violin than the Fender bass. From this point forward, electric musical instruments turned into an essential component of popular music, and would stay there for the foreseeable future.
The Fender bass still seems and plays the same, other than the occasional modifications. A lot of this is due to the enduring appeal of Leo Fender’s original bass guitar, which met all of the sound requirements of the bands at the time and continue to; while Fender’s few attempts to deviate from the original design met with failure, people are clamoring to get the kinds of guitars popularized in the fifties and sixties.
There are myriad designs for bass guitars nowadays, not to mention the number of materials it can be made from, and additional factors. It is really all essentially what pleases you best. Ebony and alder are exotic woods, but additional materials along with graphite are quickly becoming the more popular materials to utilize for bass bodies. The sound of each different variety of guitar varies, and as such you should try out each one in order to find your preference. Several bass guitar necks have frets and others don’t, bringing in another judgment to be made. Frequently the neck is comprised of wood and will produce a different sound when the strings vibrate on it as opposed to frets.
Whether you prefer wood, graphite, frets, or no frets, bass playing is a fun and essential element in music that completes the full sound.
