Can you help me with a fabric question.?
I bought fabric to cut quilt squares. The fabric has a border that is all white with advertising on it up against the pink fabric that I intend to use. Do I just cut all this off, or do I plan on using it for seam allowance. It’s about an inch. Seems like a waste of material.
I use a rotary cutter and a straight edge to quickly whisk this off. This is the selvage edge. The advertising you see is the name of the company and the coding of which fabric it is and the repeat of the print. bottom line, remove it. do not sew with it. consider it the “packaging” for your fabric.
If you do not want to waste the fabric, you can use the strips and make a braided rug with it.
