Last Minute Holidays To Jazz Festivals In Europe Are Bargains
Italy, France and Switzerland are ideal destinations for last minute holidays. In July these destinations play host to some of the best jazz festivals in the world. This is a fantastic alternative to the usual beach holiday, with some of the world’s best jazz musicians playing at these amazing festivals. If you go to any festivals, make sure you try Nice Jazz festival, Umbria Jazz Festival and Montreux Festival.
If you want a jazz festival full of friendly people, gastronomic delights and a laid-back ambience, then consider going to the July Nice Jazz Festival. Held annually since 1948, the Nice Jazz Festival is ‘the first jazz festival of international significance’ and takes place along the beautiful French Riviera. Over the years, artists including Lionel Hampton, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, and Miles Davis have graced the stages here.
Visit Perugia in the Umbria Jazz Festival to see some of the biggest names in music. Considered one of the most important jazz festivals in the world, artists including BB King, Elton John and Alicia Keys have all performed at previous festivals. The main location continues to be the Arena Santa Giuliana where the big names will perform and where, for the final evening, the gates will open free of charge. With holidays to Perugia popular at this time of year, try to book these festivals early.
For those that want to see the biggest names, go to the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, which is held at the beginning of July every year. All types of music are played here with pop, reggae and hip-hop acts playing. Last year’s line-up included Phil Collins, Willy Mason, Norah Jones, Missy Elliot and Vampire Weekend. There are lots of holiday deals on offer in Switzerland, so be sure to check out all the options before booking. As well as live performances, there are also workshops, film screenings, exhibitions and special projects to participate in.
