can you mix original white sculpty with another clay?
can you mix original white sculpty with another white clay, like fimo, or primo? getting a product that is less brittle. I prefer to paint on the clay, rather than mixing the all ready made colors.
usally you can mix different brands, but the white original sculpy I wouldn’t try it.
that stuff is student grade at best; full of fillers that makes it weak and crumbly, even under normal circumstances.
It won’t mix well with regular Fimo at all. Fimo’s too firm (almost hard as rock) and white sculpy’s too soft. (like dough) the consistency’s too different. it’ll will work slightly better with Premo, but will be more prone to scorching because of the temperature differences they both require. Also, that white stuff cracks like crazy when mixed.
I wouldn’t recommend using the white sculpy for anything at all. there’s a reason it’s so cheep. If you need polymer clay in bulk, try super sculpy. It’s peach, strong, and accepts paint well. It also mixes pretty well with almost every other type of polymer clay and won’t compromise strength.
This is how you make polymer clay “mud”
Place all your clay in a polymer clay dedicated food processor and blend well until you the clay is ground up into little tiny chunks like hamburger meat. Then you use your hands to mix it until it’s one solid color.
This polymer clay mud. I make it all the time. Just mixing it with your hands without using the food processor will result in inconsistent mixing and that almost always leads to cracks.
