The club wants to divide these beads so that each bag has exactly the same number of oval beads and metal beads. What is the greatest number of bags that they can make so the all of the beads are used and there is the same number of each bead in each bag? Write your answer using a complete sentence
This is a convoluted way to ask for the greatest common divisor (GCD)
Find the prime factors of the two numbers…
24 = 2*12 = 2*2*6 = 2*2*2*3
18 = 2*9 = 2*3*3
Find the intersection of the factors (or the factors in common)…
Each number has at least 1 two and 1 three so….
2*3 = 6 is the GCD, or largest number that divides both 24 and 18 evenly.

The largest number of bags such that each bag has the same number of oval beads and the same number of metal beads is 6.
