Silver ball on a stick in my garden, what is it?
I’ve just moved house, in my new garden there is a little silver ball (5cm diameter) stuck in the ground on a wooden stick at the side of the garden.
Does anyone have any idea what it might be, a cat or bird deterent maybe?

These are very common in germany – its a witch deter-er! The old german tradition is that if a witch flys by at night she will see her reflection and think its another witches ‘patch’ so zoom away in the other direction – they sell them here at all the garden centers – some are HUGEE and cost a bomb but the normal ones as about the size of a tennis ball or slightyl larger – they are a real ‘normal’ garden acessory here in germany – funny eh 
Our vet has about 6 in her garden – the silver mirrored ones are the traditional types – then the modern ones can be green, red, yellow etc… i think you can buy them for about 20 pounds each for the small ones – not cheap as they are real glass.
