Let Your Little Girl Step Into Spring In Style!
Aside from the usual cotton candy pink, sky blue, and lilac shades that dominate the designer girls clothes market, this Spring an entirely new family of colors is becoming more and more popular. Rich navy blues, subtle grays, and even posh champagne tones are being incorporated into children’s fashion. The styles for little girl’s clothing this spring are reminiscent of 1960′s Mod blended with a touch of 1980′s preppy- all with a very sweet, innocent feel. Dresses and tops are cut in an A-line, trapeze shape while knit cardigans boast elbow patches and brassy buttons. Pants are either cut super-slim, or styled like blousy knickers.
Gone is the smocked detailing, layers of ruffles, and lacy overskirts- those styles are now reserved for babies and toddlers. Little girl’s formal wear is becoming increasingly more and more grown-up, with subtle textures and unobtrusive detailing. One dress in particular boasted a chic harlequin printed full skirt and grosgrain ribbon belt, instead of the usual flowers and lace. Almost every single little girl’s designer brand also featured gathered, super-full skirts made of metallic cotton, drapey silk, or printed twill.
For playtime, forget about dingy denim and boring character-printed tees. Adorable knit rompers let your little darling run and jump freely with her style and fashion sense still firmly intact. If your daughter is more of the tomboy type, denim and tees are still in style. It’s all about the details when it comes to jeans: subtle pleating, high waist bands, and super-skinny cigarette shapes. Tee shirts are upgraded when they feature adorable screen prints such as those featured by MAAN, Little Marc, and Minti. Solid colored tees and tanks from MAAN and Petit Bateau are great for those who prefer a more classic look.

Refer to the layout – fold fabric right sides together with the selvages edges meeting. The selvage edges are the tightly woven edges that sometimes have color codes (circles of color) and/or needle holes from the manufacturing process. Avoid using when laying out the pattern. To get a smooth fold, hold the folded fabric up by the selvages and the fold should be smooth, if not side one layer of the fabric to the left or right until the fold no longer bunches or wrinkles.
